About Us
Once upon a time, in the heart of Uganda, our story began to unfold in June 2013. It all started when a group of dedicated missionaries from Cairo, Egypt embarked on their very first mission to this enchanting land. The moment they set foot on Ugandan soil; they were captivated by the endless potential that the people had to offer. In the spirit of compassion, a team was forged, united by a singular purpose: to serve the beautiful souls of Uganda. Their mission journeys across the country deepened their connection with its people and revealed a pressing need to give love, support and help develop such communities.
Fast forward to July 2016, and Life with Purpose Limited (LWP) emerged as a nonprofit organization in Uganda marking a pivotal moment in our journey. At the core of our philosophy lies a profound belief in nurturing not just the body but also the mind and soul of every individual. Our activities are scattered across Busembatia, Iganga, the Ssese Islands, and the vibrant heart of Uganda, Kampala, where our headquarters proudly resides.
LWP's diverse range of services is designed to serve the people of Uganda. Our medical missions offer free treatment to anyone in need, ensuring that healthcare knows no boundaries. In the realm of education, we provide opportunities from basic literacy to English classes, and we instil essential values and skills in local school programs throughout the country. Our development projects are geared towards elevating living standards by offering vocational training, skill-building, and essential goods to those facing hardships. But our mission doesn't stop there. Social activities play a vital role in our endeavours. We visit homes, engage with orphanages, and reach out to prisons, planting the seeds of hope for a brighter future in every corner of Uganda.
Today, we are a global team, spanning various backgrounds, ages, skills, and nationalities, working in harmony towards the well-being of communities across Uganda. Whether you contribute your time, effort, donations, or simply share our optimism, you become an integral part of our team.
At an average of 40 patients per outreach and 1 outreach per week, it would take 5 years to reach all the homeless in NSW.
1.5 Million Children in Need of Education: According to UNICEF (2021), over 1.5 million children in Uganda lack access to quality education, emphasizing the importance of our literacy and school programs.
35% of the Population in Poverty: Nearly 35% of Ugandans live below the poverty line (World Bank, 2022), highlighting the urgent need for our vocational training and community development projects.
Over 1,000 Beneficiaries of Social Support Programs: Through home visits, orphanage outreach, and prison activities, we continue to offer hope and support to Uganda's most vulnerable individuals.
52,000+ Patients Served: With an average of 100 patients per medical outreach and 1 outreach per month, we strive to provide free healthcare across Uganda's most underserved areas.
Every work, act, and decision made is inspired by love. It is not an emotion that is felt but an action that is intentionally done as well as the Inspiring Force that provokes us to do so. If each of us can truly learn to love, the world would be a piece of heaven.
Charity is to give openly without the expectation of receiving in return. Life with Purpose looks to provide our Ugandan brethren in need with holistic fulfillment of body, mind, soul, and spirit. With every work that we do we make sure to add even the smallest grain to one or more of these human factors freely.
In the situations we find ourselves in, sometimes cutting corners and taking shortcuts would be significantly easier and more efficient. However, at Life with Purpose, if we serve then we will do so honestly, honorably, and truthfully—following through our promises and staying focused.
As much as we would love to end poverty and attain world peace, setting attainable goals has proven to be a far more productive way to serve. At Life with Purpose, we make sure to set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound (SMART) goals for our organization and the Ugandan communities.
We continually learn from our beloved Ugandans how to live joyfully every moment and circumstance. At LWP we make a conscious effort to not focus on the negatives. Together we will fully live the present moment: enjoying our company together while remedying the past and building a future.
